HIF Açu

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

About

The HIF Açu e-Fuels facility will be located in the Port of Açu in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will be HIF's first project in Brazil and the third announced in Latin America, following the projects in Uruguay and Chile.

The project will use biogenic and industrial CO₂ as feedstock, along with renewable energy to power the e-Fuels plant. The facility will produce e-Methanol for the shipping industry and e-SAF for the aviation sector.

Brazil offers ideal conditions for the development of e-Fuels, combining abundant renewable energy resources with a strong industrial base and modern port infrastructure. The Port of Açu, one of the largest and deepest in Latin America, provides world-class logistics for large-scale energy projects and direct export routes to key international markets. Brazil has also launched its National Hydrogen Program (PNH₂), creating a favorable framework to foster this emerging industry. Together, these conditions position Brazil as a strategic hub for global decarbonization efforts and for the expansion of HIF Global’s e-Fuels portfolio.
