Punta Arenas, July 30 2025. In just four years, HIF Chile has worked with 180 companies from the Magallanes region. This was one of the key takeaways from the first “HIF Chile Suppliers Gathering”, held yesterday and attended by more than 70 representatives from 41 local companies to jointly review progress in the e-Fuels value chain.
Juan Eduardo Gallardo, General Manager of HIF in Magallanes, presented the company’s progress in the region and its joint work with local collaborators. He also addressed the company’s main challenges in the area and emphasized the strategic importance of having a strong and committed supplier network.
“The development of the green hydrogen industry in Magallanes - and in our case, of e-Fuels - is made possible by a value chain that builds an ecosystem, allowing us to move forward in the energy transition while also supporting local development. This is just the beginning, which makes coordination and joint work more essential than ever. That was the spirit of this meeting,” said Gallardo.
CORFO’s Regional Director, María José Navajas, celebrated the event and noted that the agency is working to strengthen the regional productive ecosystem. “Our focus is on the early stages of this industry. The HIF Haru Oni facility has helped identify gaps and better guide development efforts so that more companies from Magallanes can become part of the green hydrogen and derivatives value chain. This path is key to diversifying and upgrading our productive base,” she said.
During the event, key findings were presented from a survey conducted with suppliers, which showed that most are small or medium-sized enterprises. Of those surveyed, 80% believe the success of the green hydrogen industry is “important or very important” for the future of their business.
